Reason why it's significantThe Vietnam War is significant because of it being a 'hot war' within the Cold War itself. It is also significant because of how others treated this war during the Cold War time period. At that time, many veterans from Vietnam kept quiet about their experiences because of the public's reaction of ridicule & physical abuse towards them. Many were called 'baby killers' because of the My Lai Massacre carried out by the Charlie Company. The Vietnam War was also ignored by the government because of it being unpopular and because of it's failure to 'contain' the spread of Communism.

Vietnam War
The Vietnam War is one of the Cold War's 'hot wars'. The U.S. involved itself in order to prevent the spread of Communism among Asia. The U.S. thought that if Vietnam became Communist, the rest of Asia would too.
